Hello everyone,

I have been using PdfSharp v1.50.4740.0 for adding metadata to PDF documents. I need to determine if this version is FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) compliant. If it is, could you please provide the FIPS compliance number or guide me on where to find it?

Regards,
Pannag.

Hello Thomas,

Thank you for the information regarding the encryption updates in PDFsharp 6.1.0.
Is this PDFsharp 6.1.0 is FIPS compliant ? If yes, kindly share the FIPS number.

However, I still need clear information on whether PDFsharp v1.50.4740.0 is FIPS compliant(as I am using this version in my application).
If it is, could you please provide the FIPS number or direct me to where I can verify this information?

Regards,
Pannag.

PDFsharp is maintained by empira, Germany.
empira never obtained a FIPS number. But maybe someone else did.

If MD5 is not FIPS compliant, then I guess an unmodified PDFsharp 1.50 is not FIPS compliant.

Hello Thomas,

Thank you for the quick reply.

Could please let me know if there is any such reference/link where FIPS number is obtained by someone else.

Regards,
Pannag.

Hi PDFSharp-Team,

I am using the PDFSharp version 1.50 (beta 5) in my project. In my project, we used metadata functionality for update the pdf file metadata.
I have received the below queries from my client.

1. What is the ECCN and CCATS number for PDFSharp (v1.5 beta 5).
2. Please tell me the encryption method and number of bits on PDF Sharp. Which the encryption algorithm, AES or RC4?
3. Please tell me about the basis for Standard Encryption like as FIPS numbers for PDFSharp (v1.5 beta 5).
4. Please let me know if I need to disclose the license of each open-source software.

Kindly provide the above details.

Thank you in advance,

I hope you have a good reason for still using a beta version from 2017. Your version supports encryption with 40 and 56 bits IIRC.

What are ECCN and CCATS?

AFAIK PDFsharp 6.1 supports both.

We don't have a FIPS number.

Obey the license of any open-source software you incorporate in your project.
