Hi,
I have an interesting problem that I'm hoping you and PDFSharp can help me solve.
I have 181,000 PDF images that were created over many years using all kinds of mechanisms.
I am uploading them to SharePoint Online which has a PDF preview capability that employs Word via Office Online.
About half of the PDF's in my collection are not compatible with this previewing mechanism, while the other half is.
I am uploading these PDF's using C# and CSOM, which works very well.
I would like to incorporate PDFSharp (or another tool) to re-write all of the PDF's during upload such that they are all compatible with Word from Office Online.
I would test the re-write through PDFSharp on a few incompatible PDF's to be sure I'm heading the right way first, of course.
Is this do-able? Any advice from the experts? Best practices?
Thx,
Barry

Hi, Barry,

PDFsharp is not (yet?) good at repairing PDF files.
Some PDF files cannot be opened with PDFsharp.
Some PDF files can be opened with PDFsharp, but lose all their pages. This issue is under investigation, but for the time being you should ignore PDF files created by PDFsharp that have 0 pages.

IMHO chances are good that many PDF files converted with PDFsharp will work with O365. But I would expect that some files won't be handled (I'd expect this to be in the single-digit percent range).

Other libraries may be better at repairing PDF files, but that is not my area of expertise.

Thx Thomas,
This is good info...
I'll try some random sampling to see how well PDFsharp does with our collection.
