sorry for such a newbie question - I guess this is somewhere in the pdf specification, but I am after an en dash which in html is denoted by –
and in unicode is U+2013 (and because I am on a windows machine is Alt + 0150)
how do I insert a similar character in a migradoc document.

I presume you insert all your characters from program code.
It depends on you source editor and your compiler how you insert them. I'd use Alt+0150. This is not a Unicode character but a normal ANSI character and should work without problems.

Thank you - worked well. I am so used to html that it never crossed my mind such characters could be entered straight into the text editor!
