Most PDF generators require to run a server with full permissioning rights, so they must be run in a separte Microsoft Azure Service App and cannot be executed from a simple Microsoft Azure Web App. The services apps are very expensive on Azure. We need to be able to convert HTML to PDF as we have a reporting engine that simply creates HTML pages then converts. Both PDFShare and HTML Renderer.PdfSharp run in a simple Microsoft Azure Web App. https://github.com/empira/PDFsharp https://www.nuget.org/packages/HtmlRenderer.PdfSharp I cannot recall the reasons why they require their own server and service (its not trust levels, it was something else). I assume you guys will know reasoning. We are looking to transfer to PDFSharp to save costs. |

Hi! mwebsolutions wrote: Both PDFShare and HTML Renderer.PdfSharp run in a simple Microsoft Azure Web App. [...] Not my area of expertise, but I already find your question a bit confusing.I cannot recall the reasons why they require their own server and service (its not trust levels, it was something else). I assume you guys will know reasoning. Try it in a simple App and if it does not work then start debugging/investigating. Font handling can be a problem. Use the WPF build and the IFontResolver to avoid font problems. |
